The pageant world is uniting in prayer and support for Colombia following a catastrophic 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck the western region on August 10. The devastating tremor, one of the strongest the country has seen in a decade, has left thousands displaced and cities in ruins. Among those personally impacted is beloved beauty queen and Miss Grand International 2023 2nd Runner-Up, María Alejandra López.
In heartbreaking updates shared on her personal social media, a tearful María Alejandra revealed the complete collapse of her home, as well as the destruction of her aunt's residence. Stripped of the glamour of the international stage, she appeared deeply distressed but immediately used her massive platform to pivot from personal tragedy to community survival. Stranded without power or internet in the immediate aftermath, she sent out urgent pleas for resources, asking where displaced families could find food and open stores, while actively resharing rescue information for trapped victims.
