Beyond the Crown: Natalia Yurecko’s Mission to Instill Confidence in the Next Generation
How Miss Minnesota’s Teen 2026 Natalia Yurecko is Turning OCD into a Legacy of Hope
Behind every sash lies a story of determination, resilience, and a fight for causes that stretch far beyond the pageant stage. In this exclusive Behind the Sash interview, we pull back the curtain on the extraordinary journey of Natalia Yurecko, your newly crowned Miss Minnesota’s Teen 2026.
Though this was her very first year competing within the Miss America opportunity, Natalia is no stranger to the spotlight. Having played classical piano since the age of four and competed in pageants for five years, capturing the state title was the realization of a lifelong dream. But what truly sets Natalia apart is her unwavering commitment to mental health advocacy and her drive to show young women that their struggles do not define their worth.
Diagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) at just seven years old, Natalia vividly remembers the loss of hope and confidence that accompanied her diagnosis. Today, she has transformed that painful experience into her greatest strength. Through her Community Service Initiative, Obtaining Confidence Daily, she travels her state to dismantle the stigma surrounding mental health. She even authored a book, Through Her Eyes, to remind young people that they are not broken and they are never alone in their fights.
Her impact doesn’t stop there. Recognizing the heavy pressures of social media on modern adolescence, Natalia launched Confidence in Kindergarten, a program that reached over 700 children this past year. By equipping kids with affirmations and coping mechanisms from age five, she is actively preparing the next generation to handle mental health challenges long before they escalate.
As she gears up for the Miss America's Teen competition this August, Natalia remains incredibly grounded. Whether she is calming her backstage nerves by listening to Olivia Rodrigo and Megan Moroney, planning a dream trip to Greece with her mother and grandmother, or setting her sights on becoming an environmental lawyer, she is a true testament to the power of authenticity.
Watch our full, one-on-one interview above to hear Natalia discuss her backstage rituals, her advice for future delegates, and the true meaning of "Minnesota Nice" that she plans to bring to the national stage!
