The national pageant season in India has reached its fever pitch with the coronation of 19-year-old law student and model Kaziah Liz Mejo as Miss Universe India 2026. At a star-studded grand finale held in Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Sunday night, August 23, Mejo emerged victorious from a fiercely competitive field of 52 finalists—selected from an initial pool of nearly 9,000 aspirants across the country. She was officially crowned by outgoing queen Manika Vishwakarma.

Hailing from Mavelikkara, Kerala, and currently pursuing her legal studies in Bengaluru, Kaziah is no stranger to the competitive stage. Her journey represents one of the fastest ascents in contemporary pageantry:
- Teen Pedigree: Crowned Miss Teen Diva in 2024, she went on to represent India at Miss Teen International 2025, capturing the 1st Runner-Up position.
- Historic State Victory: Earlier this year, she became the youngest contestant ever to win the Miss Universe Kerala title.
- Multidisciplinary Talent: Raised partly in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Kaziah brings a global perspective alongside 12 years of classical dance training, musical proficiency in both drums and violin, and acting experience from her role in the Malayalam feature film Shylock.
